This summer, our six-week podcast class brought together a powerful mix of adults to create, connect, and dream. Together, we created a community space to explore freedom and liberation through personal narrative, art, and conversation.
Drawing inspiration from the revolutionary movements of the past such as the Black Panther Party, the Young Lords, and others who imagined radically just futures, participants examined how history’s calls for dignity, self-determination, and collective care still resonate today. With those legacies as our backdrop, we asked: What does liberation look like in our own lives? How do we carry forward the work of resistance and renewal?
Over six weeks, the group wrote poetry, made art, and recorded dialogues that wove together memory, imagination, and lived experience. The act of speaking and creating became a form of resistance in itself, an affirmation that our voices matter, that our stories deserve to be heard.
The Liberation Lab Mix Tape we created is more than a final product, it is a testament to intergenerational wisdom, the transformative power of collective creativity, and the deep belief that art and storytelling can light the path toward freedom.
This summer reminded us that liberation is not just a concept from the past—it is alive in the stories we tell, the communities we nurture, and the futures we dare to imagine together.
Tune in below, and we hope that our conversations may spark new visions of liberation in your own life!
