Well-Done: Lisa Moody

We’re excited to announce that CWBH Member Lisa Moody just supervised her first birth as a doula trainee. Welcome to the world, baby Legend! 

Lisa was part of our cohort of aspiring birthworkers who received a full scholarship to the Mama Glow Doula Homeschool Program. All doula trainees are equipped to provide guidance and support to birthing people during pregnancy, birth, and in the early postpartum period. 

Lisa knew from her first tour on Opening Day at the Center for Wellbeing & Happiness that she would apply to the program.

“It all started here,” says Lisa. “I was like…Mama Glow..scholarship, I’m in!” 

We have launched scholarship applications for the next cohort, which will meet virtually on Sundays, 12-3:30 p.m. from July 16 – August 20, 2023. If you would like to apply and to work to improve the experience of birth for Black and Brown people in the Lower East Side, please fill out this form by July 5th.

    Sarah is the Interim Director of the Center for Wellbeing and Happiness. With a strong commitment to health equity, Sarah firmly believes in the importance of holistic wellness beyond conventional medical care. That's why Sarah is on a mission to identify root causes and amplify the leadership of BIPOC communities in identifying solutions. Prior to her role at LESGC, she held positions in the New York City Mayor's Office, where she played a pivotal role in developing programs and policies for a stronger, more just city. Sarah's commitment to her community further extends to her service on Manhattan Community Board 3. Outside of work, she finds joy in baking homemade cookies and cakes, engaging in creative writing projects that amplify immigrant narratives, indulging in audiobooks borrowed from the public library, and embracing her creativity with free online sewing patterns.
